A simple counseling/therapy technique that helps me work through anxiety, worry, and intrusive thoughts is Thought-Stopping. There are 3 basic steps: 1. Recognize the worry/intrusive/negative thought 2. STOP the negative thought using various techniques (divert attention, say think "stop", my etch-a-sketch technique, etc). 3. Replace the negative thought with a positive/realistic/productive one.
